The Face of Furry Creek Goes Online, Worldwide and Free!

1 Jun

Furry Creek is “hooking you up”. With The Face of Furry Creek series that is. Starting today, you can watch all 12 full episodes completely free on faceoffurrycreek.com. No strings attached!

It’s just like Netflix but with only 1 show so it’s totally not at all like Netflix. Also, unlike Netflix, you can also explore the rest of the Furry Creek website to find crazy amounts of bonus material!

Hook up now and “swipe right” to watch what Blouin Artinfo called “gutsy satire that needs more attention”, Homorazzi called “clever and entertaining” and Daily Xtra exclaimed “If you missed it, you’re clearly not smoking weed or laughing enough”. Huh?

So get to know the world of Furry Creek!

2 New Documentaries Coming This Summer

2 Apr

I’ve been busy over the course of the cold, bitter winter, finishing up 2 new documentaries I directed that are slated to air on OUTtv this summer as part of the “OUTspoken Biography” docuseries.

They Came From Venus takes a look at the last 20 years of The House of Venus art collective and how it shaped LGBT culture across Canada. Yes, yes, I was a part of that collective for a time and spearheaded The House of Venus Show but this isn’t about that! The documentary focuses on co-founder Michael Venus as he prepares for the 20th annual Wiggle show and traces the origins and influence of this unique art collective as it relates to nightlife, music and drag culture. With DJ Dickey Doo, Greg George/Luka, Douglas Coupland and many Venus “kids” from the last 20 years.

Take Up The Torch is an inspiring look at the heroes, past and present, making the Canadian sports landscape more LGBT-inclusive. From Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Tewksbury’s coming out in 1998 to the controversy in Sochi 2014 to the unprecedented growth of the Pride House movement, my pal and co-director Michael Yerxa and I explore the hurdles (awful pun intended obviously!) leading up to a major announcement by The Canadian Olympic Committee. Starring Olympians Mark Tewksbury, Charline Labonté, Anastasia Bucsis and John Fennell.

I will, of course, post trailers and air dates as soon as they are confirmed.

“This is Drag” to air March 2nd, 2014 in Canada

24 Feb

The time has finally come. My 1 hour documentary This is Drag will premiere on OUTtv right before the premiere episode of Rupaul’s Drag Race – Season 7 on March 2nd, 2014 at 8pm and 11pm EST/5pm and 8pm PST! It provides the perfect closure to the last season of Drag Race as I followed Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano, Courtney Act and many more as they schlep from one gig to another during World Pride in Toronto. What resulted is an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at performance, glamor, fame, family, love and sacrifice. Not only for these post-Drag Race queens, but many others in various stages of their careers.

Unfortunately, the documentary will not air outside of Canada (it’s complicated!) which makes it a Canadian exclusive. In fact, even the trailer is geo-blocked and can only be viewed in Canada. So if you live outside Canada, you might want to ask your Canadian friends to DVR it or something like that.

It will also air again on Monday, May 18th at 8pm EST before Drag Race and attempts are being made to put it up on iTunes very soon.

Starring Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano, Courtney Act, Darienne Lake, Alyssa Edwards, Shangela. The full 1 hour documentary will air on OUTtv in Canada in early 2015. MKW’s Starbucks Commercial Now Airing

29 Oct

It took a while but it’s finally out! This past summer I was happy to have been asked to write and direct Starbucks’ very first LGBT-themed commercial! “Coffee Frenemies” features a couple familiar faces if you’re a fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race. That’s right, Adore Delano is having a hectic day and needs her coffee pretty bad. She flirts her way through the line up but Bianca Del Rio ain’t having it. Deb from The Face of Furry Creek also has a voice cameo as Adore’s assistant 🙂 I actually made 3 different endings and they will be rotated when airing on partner OUTtv. But you can watch version #1 online below.

“The Face of Furry Creek” – Episode 206

12 Oct

It’s the last episode of The Face of Furry Creek! Find out what happens and where our characters may be headed next. In this week’s final TV episode entitled “Das Ende“ (“the end” in German), the final 3 contestants are asked to prepare their own news segments for Channel 12. Meanwhile, Sisi and Deb hit a major low in their relationship, Petunia is picketing outside Deb’s house and the whole town hates Deb for cheating. And, of course, a new winner is declared!

Episode 206 airs Monday, October 13th on OUTtv at 8:30pm ET/ 7:30 PT with re-runs throughout the week. Check their website for details. The winner’s new commercial will be uploaded at faceoffurrycreek.com right after the TV episode airs so check out that video after. For now, you can watch a short preview of the finale below.
